A Crooked Man tells the fictional story of Armenian Genocide survivor Hagop Hagopian and his half- Armenian American grandson Alex. Cultures and generations collide when a haunting memory from the past forces Hagopian to mysteriously climb up to the roof of his house while holding a loaded gun. The truth about Hagopian’s secret past is so fearsome that he desperately needs to reveal it and pass it on to the next generation.
Kalinoski's previous play the acclaimed Beast on the Moon was translated into 12 languages and won 5 prestigious Moliere awards in France in 2001 directed by Irina Brook (daughter of theatre legend Peter Brook).
The US production, directed by Larry Moss, had a successful Off Broadway run in 2005 and became one of 'five must see' plays in New York Daily News.
